Review of Victoria Hotel

This was our third visit to the Victoria hotel, it’s in a great location and facilities are great. However what makes this place so special for us is the staff. Every member of the team at the Victoria in whatever role clearly wants to engage and to make your stay as good as it can be. This consistency of approach is hugely impressive in any organisation and it makes such a difference to the experience we will certainly be back

Brilliant restaurant in the hotel for Sunday lunch. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Good choice of menu - I recommend the roast beef. The restaurant was full so you need to book in advance. Sunday lunch includes coffee and mints served in the lounge.

Perfect!
Needed dinner on a Monday night so a lot of places closed in sidmouth where I was staying. I’ve never been in the harbour but often walked past and has always looked busy.. now I know why!
Lovely friendly service which was extremely efficient. Food was spot on and the whole place had a very nice welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely recommend if your looking for relaxing, easy eating and or drinking- first class!

Review of The Chattery

We had a lovely breakfast at The Chattery, whilst visiting Sidmouth. It is just out of the main high street, but was a great find. It was very clean, comfy seats and service with a smile.
We had an Early Starter breakfast for £8.50, this included a hot drink and toast. The breakfast was hot, and delicious with good quality products. The bacon was butchers thick bacon and cooked to perfection and not salty. We would revisit and would recommend.

As soon as you step through the door you know the place is well run; with the shop shelves beautifully stacked. All the prices were very reasonable too. Like the shop, the cafe was spotless where we enjoyed coffee that was full of flavour, but not bitter. It was obvious the whole business was being well looked after and clients were made very welcome.

Review of The Anchor Inn

Lighter bite menu was more than adequate for lunch; scampi/ cottage pie/ lambs liver and bacon casserole. All the staff were efficient and made your stay hospitable. We were asked if everything was ok shortly after we started eating. Some places never ask.

We booked in for Saturday night dinner and had asked if we could stay in their carpark in our Motorhome for the night.
Well we were made to feel so welcome. Yes they were very happy for us to stay in the carpark overnight too.
We would highly recommend. Our evening meal was delicious and with great service from happy staff. The restaurant was fully booked for the night too. We found out that the owners Vicky and James had only been there 9 weeks - wow they are doing so well. We also booked in for breakfast - again we were not disappointed - delicious
We will be back

Visited for Devonshire cream teas as a family of three. It’s started off wonderfully by being accused by the grand looking doorman of moving a cone because he had 5 other people to park, heaven forbid a paying guest using the parking?

Upon entering there is a wonderful regal lounge bar which would be lovely for Afternoon/Devonshire Tea….. so we were sat in the side lounge which felt like we were sat in the Principality Stadium whilst Italy beat Wales in the Six Nations it was just the vibe I was anticipating when booked.

The tea itself was perfectly pleasant despite the ambience of being in the 3rd row of the Principality.

Our short stay culminated in being followed down the drive by the doorman with a cone in hand to presumably save the space for one of the 5 guests staying there.

All in all not overly impressed.

Review of Jar Bakery

I've used jar a few times for a coffee & cake & always enjoyed it, very nice coffee and cakes very fresh, service can be a little bit slow at times but it does get very busy so that fine with me,plus the young staff are always polite and attentive.

Where do you find your staff? As locals, we visit your hotel hoping the next experience will be better. Todays visit proved unpleasant yet again. We were served by a male bar person who took twenty minutes to serve us with drinks but only after our friend went to the bar to ask, politely, when we could expect our drinks. She was met with sarcasm about ‘being busy’ and when the drinks eventually arrived another sarcastic remark was made. When my husband ordered the drinks, this same bar person was having an altercation with another member of staff and was overheard today ‘I’m not bloody doing that’. I know staff are hard to come by, but your staff are rude , sarcastic and blasé. We visited on the 10 th March and the time was 2.45pm.

The original review I posted (as above) was answered by a manager identifying themselves as called Stefka Csordas requesting I contact them by email to discuss this matter further.

Update: I contacted this person as requested via email and to date have not received any response whatsoever, am I surprised, no I am not!…..

Review of Graze & Olive

What a total gem, we went for lunch but unfortunately what I wanted wasn’t on the lunch menu but when I asked they were more than happy to do it for us, we had a graze board for two and it was just perfect, all the ingredients were delicious and it was presented and prepared with obvious care, even the wine was good and very good value, will we go back !!! Yep try stopping us.
Thanks so much

Clint

See you at one of your jazz nights

Great location, comfortable & well appointed room, very good spa facilities, good restaurant & lovely staff throughout for whom nothing was too much trouble - overall a very welcoming ambiance. While a few of the furnishings were a bit 'tired', they did not detract from a very pleasant break & we can thoroughly recommend staying here.

First visit to the Sanctuary and was genuinely amazed at what their is to see, read and do here. It's free to get in, easy to find and parking is on site. Something for everyone here from 1-100, lots of beautiful donkeys all with their own stories and quirky ways.
Arrived just as a talk about the Sanctuary and donkey history was starting, very interesting and the guy was so passionate about the donkeys.
Lots of opportunities and spaces to see the donkeys and give them a head fuss, they really are misunderstood!
Shop and cafe in the main building. Shop had lots of great donkey gifts and souvenirs to buy along with plenty of other good quality items.
Made a donation on the way out via the self service card machine. The staff and volunteers here are brilliant

Excellent lunch. Reasonably priced and very friendly staff. We took advantage of the food and drink offer of £11 and we thought it was an excellent deal. We will definitely be back. Thanks to all.

A superb restaurant at last in the village. The meals are well-prepared, delicious, while allergies are well catered for. A good, varied menu served by pleasant, helpful staff.

We had tea and some absolutely delicious food for lunch today….beautifully presented. My friend and I shared a 3 dips plate and a cheese and chutney plate….both with generous portions….the men had bacon rolls which they both enjoyed too….very friendly owners….do go and visit them. Lovely ambience with lots of entertainment planned in the future. We will be back….!

Review of Victoria Hotel

The Victoria is a great hotel that I visit regularly as the staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is terrific with a dinner menu that changes every day.
The grounds are beautifully kept and the view from the lounge is great as you can see the sea front.
It is the only place to stay in Sidmouth.
