After tackling Angel's Landing and a few other trails in the park, we scheduled this one on our way out since the trailhead was in that direction. It did not disappoint. A little bit of a climb, but once atop, the view is breathtaking. There are very few rails on the vista so if you have young children, be sure... More

The trailhead for the Canyon Overlook Trail, a fairly easy 1 mile round trip trail to an excellent overlook of Pine Creek Canyon with views of Zion Canyon, is located on the northern side of the Zion-Mt Carmel Hwy just past the eastern end of the tunnel. Being higher in altitude and therefore cooler, this hike is a good option... More

Not for those afraid of hikes... Nice not too long hike to a magnificent viewpoint. You can see the highway back/ or from Zion main canyon/ scenic drive.

We arrived there before 9AM, it still had lots of place to park. The trail is easy to hike... the overlook view point is amazing!!! It's about one hour round trip.

Very pretty walk along the river. Drive down was spectacular. Could be very crowded on busy days as the path is narrow.

As other reviewers have said, parking is limited, about ten spaces just east of the tunnel and a few more along the road. If you can park please go on this short hike. There are steps to climb at the start and a few drop offs along the way but nothing to worry about. The views at the overlook are... More

This can be a family hike which is only about 1 mile up and 1 mile back. This hike is less busy than Angels Landing, mainly due to the lack of parking. You get amazing views within a very short distance. Although appropriate for family hikes, make sure you keep your children close by your side as there are some... More

This is a nice short hike -- steep in a few places, but not too difficult. Some of the guides say it is beautiful at sunrise and sunset. It turns out that the view at the top is to the west, so it probably would be much better to go for sunrise than sunset like we did. Even so, the... More

This hike to Canyon Overlook is fairly easy and leads to absolutely beautiful views of part of Zion Canyon and the Zion - Mt Carmel Highway switchbacking up to leave the Canyon. There's a very modest elevation gain and the trail is easy to follow. At the Overlook, the main observation points are fenced (since there's an almost 1000 foot... More

A nice quick hike right out the east side of the Mt. Carmel tunnel. Sunrise would probably give you the best views for the shortest hike in the park if you wanted to get up early. But even at midday, the views of Pine Creek Canyon and the road to the tunnel are great. Parking is limited, so have a... More
