This was the 1st beach we visited on St. John. We stopped at park service building to get oriented and some advice on best places to visit. We took Lind Point Trail that starts behind the park service building and it was a pleasant 20 minute walk to Salomon Beach. The views overlooking Cruz Bay was gorgeous along the way.... More

We took the Lower Lindpoint Trail from Cruz Bay to Salomon beach. I would recommend wearing closed toe shoes because it gets a little rocky at some points. I managed in flip flops, but it was not ideal. There were only about three other groups on the beach when we arrived. We got to set up under a palm tree.... More

This beach is a 30 minute, easy hike from Cruz Bay along a wide trail through the tropical forest of the National Park. You should wear closed shoes for the walk, not flip-flops or sandals. You can't drive there. Even so, this relatively small beach attracts a comfortable number of devotees. It is uncrowded, but not empty. There are no... More

This beach was my favorite beach on St. John. It is small, secluded and beautiful. It is a short 0.5 mile hike from Lind Point Trail, which is very close to Cruz Bay. There are a few parking sports so if you get there relatively early, or if you’re lucky, you can just leave the car and walk down to... More

overall my favorite st john beach. quiet, calm, secluded. we took our 3 kids (age 7,7,4) by way of the upper lind point trail. I think a little harder hike than the lower lind point trail but they did fine. beach is totally worth the 20min hike. not many people at all. saw a chicken and a few iguanas just... More

It's a short hike- great for kids (my kids are 6,7 & 9) we also saw donkey's on our way to the beach- so that was exciting. We carried 2 chairs, beach bag & small cooler and we were fine. We made the mistake last year of not coming prepared and this year we knew we would want to stay... More

Best to hike in the morning before it gets to hot. The hike starts behind the St. John National Park Visitor Center. You can park at the Visitor Center for the hike but don't park there to walk around town or they will ticket you, according to the ranger at the visitor center. Take water and snorkel gear. Good snorkeling... More

One of my favorite beaches on St. John. It's only accessibly by walking so it keeps the crowd to a minimum - pick up the trail behind the VI National Park Visitors Center. Small beach but definitely one of the most beautiful. Great snorkeling as well.

Gorgeous secluded beach. I like that the hike dissuades the masses from coming here but you still need to come early to feel like the beach is all yours :)

We had only a half day to spend on the island before catching a ferry back to St. Thomas. Two different locals recommended the hike to Salomon Bay, so we decided to give it a shot. I'd estimate about a 3/4 mile hike through some pretty steep terrain -- the path easily traveled in some areas, and a little more... More
