The hacienda has been the location of several film and television productions, and is featured in most travel guides. Its archives are frequently cited in historical texts and research. The Hacienda may be the best preserved but unrestored hacienda in the Yucatan. The Hacienda is open daily for tours, a private guest house, museum of Mayan artifacts, gift shop, snack bar and events. « less

I have visited hacienda yaxcopoil many many times and always enjoy a wander around the grounds and the village. I love to visit in the evening when the light is wonderful and the buildings look fabulous against the sunsets. There are always groups of mainly women playing softball in early evening in the large area next to the hacienda and... More

What an interesting view of a hacienda that produced sisal in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The grounds are beautifully kept and the buildings and furnishings are well maintained and remain as they were when the hacienda was in production, including artwork, chandeliers, and the accounting books for the hacienda. In the production area, you can see the... More

Wander the grounds, enjoy a light luncheon menu. Relax and let your imagination take you back in time to gain a true sence of how it may have been . . .

Hacienda Yaxcopoil is one of my favourite ones. Its natural state is un matched to any of the other revamped,re constructed done up for the tourists, who are encouraged to eat in the restuarants. If you are looking to see the original furnishings still in tact and displayed then this is for you.The kitchen is also in its original state... More

I have visited Hacienda Yaxcopoil three times. I enjoy the untouched construction beauty there. It is special because it has not been restored, but is still in quite good condition. Many of the other haciendas in the area have been restored, so the authenticity of the original site is diluted. I like the other restored haciendas, but I also value... More

Hacienda Yaxcopoil is original. Before you visit hennequin plantations, read up on how important this crop was to the production of rope used extensively in the sailing ship days. Located in a tropical setting, this place will give you a feeling of living the history.

This hacienda is one of my favorites to visit and I've been there multiple times. It must have been quite a magnificent structure in its heyday, and the owners have preserved it as closely as possible to that time. Original furniture, books and other things are inside the building, which also sports original tile floors, frescoes, windows and doors, etc.... More

Site needs refurbishing, especially on outside. Better explanations and views of sisal processing are needed. Indoor components of residential area is worth it for a perspective on home life for the rich in the past.

I love to go to this place and always take any visitors here to see a real Hacienda. Although there are many other haciendas to visit in Yucatan this one ( I feel ) is the most authentic one to visit if one really wants to see how the people there lived and worked. The entrance fee is low at... More

Hacienda Yaxcopoil claims to be a "museum", but I would argue that this claim is inaccurate. Though the Hacienda used to be one of the most magnificent haciendas in the area, it is now in quite a state of disrepair, and no attempt seems to have been made to rectify this. Paintings are faded, gardens are not well-tended, and furniture... More
