This is a pleasant museum, and worth visiting. There is an exhibit of native Canadian art - mostly small sculpture - that is worth a visit in itself. There were also rooms with art involving Quebec history, as well as contemporary Quebec art and European art. The museum has a slightly provincial flavor and if you're looking for a huge,... More

Most museums/etc give teachers a discounted entrance (sometimes it's free) - but this place, and the museum of civilization did not, they also didn't know very much about their own province, since no one knew NUNAVIK is in Quebec.

I have to say that I truly appreciate a museum that offers visitors their permanent collection free of charge. It surely brings people that otherwise may not try it out! And it is worth a visit. My kids LOVED the old prison (actual part of museum - attached). Their collection is solid and the architecture of the place is worth... More

This is a very nice museum, I have visited 3 times mostly to see specif exhibitions and would like to return to take more time to see the permanent collection. The original building (Pavillon Gerard-Morisset) is very nice, built in 1933 with nice interior details, wide staircase and beautiful ceilings. We saw an exhibition on La Nouvelle France which was... This was on our list of things we wanted to see, and it was everything we expected, and more! The displays are diverse and we felt there was so etching for everyone. We did have lunch in the cafe, and it was also quite good!

During Carnival, I finally made it to the Musee National des Beaux Arts. (Note to self: next time, don't depend on your high-school French. Plasticene (spelling?) is a school, NOT plastics!) I wanted to go by because I thought that they were doing a show on plastics from the 50s and 60s, and that seemed sort of fun and funky.... More

I'm not a big fan of all the paintings they have in this museem, but I was delighted with their Riopelle exhibit! One of the best I've seen in my life!

The public bus took us to this Museum where we rode out the blizzard. It had a wonderful exhibit on the Middle Ages. We saw artifacts that we didn't realize had survived to the present. Some were religous but others gave one a picture into secular life. For lunch we ate in the museum restaurant which would warrent 5 stars.... More

Although not the greatest museum in the world, it contains very original works of art. Large collection of religious art, but we really enjoyed the area reserved for Jean-Paul Riopelle for its 3 large canvasses of 30 paintings.

A wonderful place to spend a cold afternoon! Exhibits highlight Quebec artists and contribution to local and Canadian history. Last time I was here I enjoyed a Camille Claudel, Rodin, exhibition that I will never forget. Today I once again toured the permanent collection and Jean Paul Riopelle -- never fails to impress. Also, the restaurant and building itself is... More
