Honoring the man who founded the first Quebec settlement with a statue, the park stretches nearly 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers ) from the Cageux Wharf to the Sillery coastline. The newly landscaped park is a gift from the provincial government to Quebec City for its 400th anniversary. « less

Whenever we passed the Samuel de Champlain statue there was a live performer or two and most were pretty decent. We enjoyed sitting on the steps and gazing out on the St Lawrence river while the sun set on the fall foliage in the evenings. At twilight the Chateau De Frontenac's outdoor bar would light gas lamps adding to the... More

For pedestrians, cyclists, roller-bladding or just plain sitting/watching, a very nice park along the St Laurence river. Nice tower with observation deck. Good parking along most of the length of the park.

We just returned from a quick break in Vieux Quebec, and loved the promenade...Watching the toboganeers was great fun, the view is impressive, and at one end you can watch or participate in the skating and cross country skiing. Beautiful place to watch the sun go down

. . . well, this is just a part of the whole Terrace, Promenade, Chateau Frontenac experience in Old Quebec. This whole area is great and everything to see is within a decent walk. Lots to see - all good.

Although intended as a monument and memorial, this area is a pretty time for a pleasant stroll. Unfortunately we were there in the rain this time so not quite as nice an experience. Even on a rainy day I carried away a few nice pictures and enlyed the few minutes of walking around.

The view is wonderful and the Promenade broad, clean and inviting. Plenty of space for all the tourists taking pictures, access to the Funiculaire. Just a lovely spot for a relaxing stroll

The view toward the south over the St. Lawerence River is the best in the area. Best is that it is free! Take the funicular from old town or walk up the hill and gaze out on a superb vista. The statue of Champlain is majestic and on a sunny day you can take a picture of the statue with... More
