This was by far the most memorable of our shore excursions during a 16-day cruise of six ports in New Zealand and four ports in Australia. At Hakikino were treated like extended family members, warmly welcomed and included. We really enjoyed our visit to the Arch of the Ancestors. This is not a Disneyland type experience, instead it is an experience where a true Maori extended family shares their history and traditions with you. I felt very touched by this experience.

A place where I experienced real maori culture with it's great food and their awesome people. A mysterious site where I could feel the century long history. The walk through the assembly area put us in the shoes of the maori ancestors and the introduction of the music instruments enabled us to picture their lifes.

Our tour at Hakikino was truly authentic and interesting. We learnt so much about their culture and history but also felt the emotional pride they have, this bought tears to my eyes. the whole experience they offer is professional but also real - they are not just doing this for tourists - you can see it's also for the benefit... More
