We had lunch yesterday at the newly refurbished Kingfish Lodge which was superb and very enjoyable for a party of seven. We arrived by our own boat but the Lodge has its own boat "Freedom" which they use to collect guests for a small fee from Whangaroa. Definitely worth a visit to enjoy the food and the spectacular scenery.

If you're heading for the Cape, I would recommend this as a stop over then you can head along the coast for great fish and chips!

Scenery is great, fishing is even better. Have visited this harbour many times and found the fishing to be great every time. Many nice safe boating spots for windy days.

We lived in Kaeo and Waitaruke and I have not visited anywhere quite as beautiful as Whangaroa. It may not be the most 'happening' place in the World but for natural beauty it is hard to beat. There are amazing outcrops of interesting rock formations amongst the lush green bush that grows right down to the water's edge. The harbour... More

In hindsight, I wish we spent more time in Whangaroa Harbour. What we did was, drive up Whangaroa Road, past the legendary fish n chip shop (where we asked for directions), then turned up Old Hospital Road and parked at the top, so we could walk up to St Pauls Rock. What a great walk. Steep, but interesting and the... More

Just stayed for one night but will definitely be back. Stayed at Whangaroa Lodge on hill overlooking the harbour. Beautiful views and the lodge has been renovated to a high standard, with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Dont go straight into Whangaroa Harbour from the SH 10, turn off before Kaeo towards Matauri Bay... More

One of the most beautiful harbours in the world, also one of the deepest. Everything about this place is magical, from the sculptured rock faces to the tropical native forest that hug the shorelines. A very special place.
