Beautiful gardens and grounds set against cholmondeley castle. I was very surprised at how impressive this place is, and entry cost £6 for an adult. Well worth every penny!! I was surprised it was so quite on a bank holiday weekend with beautiful sunshine. There was a brass band playing outside the castle on our visit, and we sat on...

....even on a Bank Holiday! Beautiful manicured gardens, keeping a good balance between cultivated beds and natural wild flower grasslands, along with the spectical of Azaleas & Rhodedenrons in full bloom its a really pleasant place to spend an afternoon. Visit to the tea rooms is a must fro some light bites and combine with the Cholmondeley Arms or Yew...

We decided to visit Cholmondeley on a whim and it proved to be a good decision. Access was easy and well signposted from the A49 (coming from the Beeston direction). We were gifted a rather nice sunny day and passed the afternoon wandering around the grounds of the estate.
The gift shop was simple and very reasonably priced - and...

This is a very relaxing place to visit. It is a great place for a picnic with large grounds to walk around and explore. There are play areas(Outdoor) for the kids to wear themselves out on and the temple gardens for adults to wander round and admire. There is a cafe and gift shop and a rare breeds farm. Entrance...

The trees and shrubs were exploding into autumnal colours and the early-morning October mist gave the ponds and lakes a glow and allowed to reflect the muted oranges, yellows and browns....

Really beautiful gardens, with masses of flowers. The gardens are landscaped, not formal. Plants include both common and rare species. Unfortunately few are labelled, but if you like gardening, you'll find lots to enjoy here.
There's a lot to see, and as the opening hours are from 11am to 5pm we didn't really finish everything in one day. Luckily it's...

It was a busy day when we stumbled upon Cholmondeley Castle, not having been aware of it previously, but it definitely worth visiting, perhaps on a quieter day with less rampaging three year olds hunting for teddybears. The gardens are beautiful and the walks not demanding. Tucked into the rear of the gardens is a delightful walled kitchen garden with...

Check the opening times carefully before you go because Cholmondeley Castle is only open for part of the year and then not every day - and you can't actually visit the castle at all! It does make a lovely backdrop for the very pretty gardens, though. We thought the shop was very pricey and the first time we visited we...
