We had excellent weather so the visit was very good. The restaurant is excellent for quality and value.
Such a beautiful restoration, the abbey is stunning and both the main church and modern chapel at the rear are both simple and serene. The grounds and facilities, shop, cafe, video room are all of a very high standard.
The Abbey is wonderful although the alterations/clean up are taking some time. We spent several hours walking around the grounds, which are lovely in the summer, before entering the Abbey itself. A great suprise to find the food was very good value for money in the cafe. In particular, the home made deserts were outstanding. We would eat there again in the future.
Although undergoing some renovation work this was an impressive place to visit. And it was free as well. Something rare in todays 'money-grabbing' age.
Always love Buckfast Abbey - an oasis of tranquility in a busy word. Tried the cafe the last time there and was very good cake and coffee.
The house is a little more unusual to other NT houses as they had to refill it from empty. You are sent round the house in a particular direction so that they can save the best room until the end.
