A very basic small scale museum ,built around some excavations,suitable for children as an introduction to Roman life, where they can also dress up.For adults with any previous knowledge from other museums or visits to sites in Italy,Europe,or UK. do not bother to visit as nothing special.

We were pleasantly surprised with how well this little museum was laid out and the good mix of artefacts and interpretation. People want different things from museums so this won't be for everyone but I think it is one of the better 'general' museums for Roman History in Britain.

I visited the museum with my partner and two teenage sons. Entry cost £22 and while we were thorough in viewing the exhibition it only took an hour so seemed expensive. We have visited quite a few similar Roman museums and this one was very good. Well laid out with lots of artefacts to look at. The information panels were very good and helped us to learn lots. Having a keen interest in history, I wasn't expecting much from this place but I was impressed. Good value for money, some touching artefacts to be seen, and of course the excavated mosaic flooring, amazing to see. Worth a visit.

Rather a disappointing little museum with a small section of mosaic pavement and some artefacts found in the post war rebuild of the city.
