Site is fascinating, museum one of the best. Well presented, lots of Roman objects, right amount of interpretation. Brilliant.

An interesting experience. We really enjoyed our return visit. A lack of litter bins was noticeable. the museum was excellent ad the cafeteria was very well priced

What a wonderful day we arrived in time for the guided tour all included in the price,they do 2 on Saturday and Sunday look at the web page for up to date info . There is a mock up fort to see what it might have been like 2000+years ago the museum on the Vindolanda site is great,to walk around... More

Lashing with rain but enthusiastic volunteers were scratching at the ground to dig out Roman treasures.the leader was very pleased with a lethal looking shot.Interesting museum.The Romans stuck beheaded barbarians to scare away intruders!

I've been to Vindolanda numerous times over the years and it's always interesting. If the weather is good then it's a brilliant day out for kids and for adults. Roman Vindolanda Fort is near a tinkling stream, whose mystical properties must have been revered by humans well before any Romans came there as conquerors. I had been to Housesteads before but the day I visited the Roman Wall with three Japanese friends there was a howling wind and it was very cold.
