Spent the day at Camera Obscura & buying things on the Royal Mile. The Tattoo however was the highlight. Loved every minute. It turned cold so my advice to anyone going is - remember your vest!!

Went in to find out what services were offered and I was helped by a very nice man who explained what documents were available and the cost. He also explained that I could, for a charge, access the documents online from the comfort of my own home especially as I live a long way from Edinburgh

Go here if you want to see primary sources such as Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates. The certificates are all indexed on computer and the certificates are digitised. You can copy down the info (free), download onto a USB stick (30p) or get a print (50p).
