This is a superb visitor centre. It gave us an understanding of the politics involved. The film in the round is frighteningly realistic. The cafe is nice but why have all the signage in Gaelic and have English jam to accompany the scones? I believe some rather good jam is produced in Scotland

No photograph nor description can truly express what it is like to stand on the bleak, desolate field of Drummossie Moor, where the battle of Culloden took place in 1746. Culloden, which was the last battle fought on British soil, marked the end of the civil war between Jacobites, (supporters of the Stuarts) and those who favored the Hanoverian dynasty.... More

I was very impressed with this site and found the detail of the history fascinating. The story is brilliantly told via a variety of media, the guided tour of the battlefield is fantastic and the guide brought the context and the battle itself to vivid life. I do not agree at all it is sentimental, the history is objectively told... More

This is by far the best museum I have visited. There is something for everyone, with fully interactive and hands on exhibits. As you progress through the museum, you follow the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie, the movements of the English & Jacobite armies, and all backed up with archaeology finds from the battlefield. You can also take a tour... More

Absolutely an excellent experience with both the visitor center and the outdoor interpretation. You will certainly both learn and feel the Jacobite Rising from both sides.

Whether you're a history buff or claim a Scottish heritage, Culloden's a necessary stop. We stayed at Eileidh B&B in Inverness and caught a bus out to Culloden for most of a day as it takes at least a few hours to see it properly. Regardless of the time you have, go and experience the treasure of a most misunderstood... More

I first visited the battlefield in the 1970s when it was covered in trees, had a road through the middle and the visitor centre was a cottage with a few trestle tables. I have to say I enjoyed that visit more. There is something soulless about the new visitor centre although elements of the multimedia materials are good. In no... More

An interesting historical site and have visited many times however, since it was revamped I am disappointed. Yes the in house exhibition is very good but feel that the actual battle field has been made far to tidy. The graves of the Highlanders used to be set in amongst heather but now surrounded by well mown grass, it just feel... More

One can not come to Scotland without visiting the famous Culloden Battlefield where the Scots lost to the English in the mid-Eighteenth century battle. This is where the Scots lost their freedom forever. Now a part of the UK, this battlefield signifies the end of the clans, tartans, kilts, and all things Scottish. Queen Victoria rekindled a bit of Scottish... More

The battlefield itself has been restored to its condition at the time of the battle, but I found it very windy. However, the exhibition itself had us talking for days. It was so very informative and we filed a lot of gaps in our historical knowledge. The film room (not suitable for small children) was amazing. There was plenty of... More
