The Dun Laoghaire Rotary Club took visiting Rotarians from Devon for a visit. The guides were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Their tour lasted one and a half hours and was free. The garden is spectacular, the Rhododendrons stole the show, they are plentiful and all over. The trees were amazing! You need to take your time, pack a picnic and visit on... More

Having seen the botanical gardens in more than a few countries (and cities), nothing compares to Ireland's. The grounds spring up beside the Tolka River, which splits, then winds around Mill Field as an approach to the Rose Garden. Unfortunately, the roses were not in bloom when we visited. There are 250-year-old Giant Sequoia's (native to North America) and Coastal... More

These wonderful gardens reward repeat visits in different seasons. Spring, summer and autumn have their obvious beauty but for me - to be able to escape to the tropical green house on a cold grey winters day is one of the great escapes Dublin offers. Beautiful and well run. Has wonderful sculpture exhibitions also. Only area I would love to... More

Free, easy to get to and beautifully planted. The Victorian era iron built greenhouses were worth the trip all by themselves. When we went, the James Joyce flowerbed was in full bloom and resembled a portrait of him!

grew up near the Botanic Gardens and visited regularly as a child, bring my family there now occasionally, or on occasion just go by myself to relax, found out there what direction bananas grow....I was wrong

Firstly it is free to enter which is a plus these days. The gardens are lovley to stroll around and the James Joyce tulip bed was excellent. The glasshouses have lovely displays of unusual plants. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere around the place and you can also have something to eat. A lovely way to spend a sunny Sunday... More

Just be aware that if you visit by car at busy times (weekends when the sun shines) then parking can be hard to find as their... More

It's free, it's beautiful, peaceful and sunny or shade choice for sitting to read a book - it's got a couple of eatery choices and an information desk that can answer all your questions

On a sunny bank holiday in May, there may be no better place to come to observe almost as broad a cross-section of Dublin life as its worldwide plant counterparts, for on such days Dubliners in search of diversion flock to these gardens in their droves. All ages, shapes and sizes are to be found wandering its grounds, happily lulled... More
