The castle is famously situated and seen on many travel guides to Ireland. Easy to reach for us staying near Galway, the area is scenic and if you continue south for another hour you'll reach the Cliffs of Moher. The parking is across the road and down the street. At 5:15 PM, they let you in for the 5:30 booking.... More

My wife and passed this picturesque castle on our drive to Galway and Doolin and had to stop in. We walked inside the walls, visited the gift shop but could not attend that show that night. It was just cool to be inside the walls of a real ancient castle though. Recommend stopping by!

The food and entertainment was good, but wished we got to see more of the castle than we did. Word of warning: Not a good place for people with certain handicaps or disabilities. Narrow winding stone stairs to climb and no backs to chairs. Due to back, knee and hip surgeries, my mother did not enjoy herself as she was... More

What a fantastic night we had at the Dunguaire Banquet. It was a more intimate venue than the same sort of night at say Bunratty and we were taken care of as if we were personal guests of the "king"! All the boxes were ticked and the entertainment was top class being a mixture of song and verse. Also wanting... More

It was super easy to stop roadside and get over to the castle. It was nice to see - there is a private tour that you can pay for but we just chose to walk around the grounds independently. It is short and takes little time but nice to see. There is also a nice giftshop with some handmade items.

We arrived at about 5:00 p.m. for the 5:30 p.m. banquet only to find that the castle was essentially locked down in preparation for the banquet with the only greeting being a sign that said "doors open at 5:15 p.m. Looking about at the relatively tiny, delapidated castle grounds composed of mossy stones, rusting gates and scruffy courtyard, we were... What a wonderful eveing! I highly recommend you find time to enjoy the banquet at Dunguaire. The evening begins by being welcomed in and offered a glass of mead. Be careful with this - it is a fermented apple and honey drink with 15% alcohol! You will spend some time in a reception hall where a harpist plays. After a... More

I highly recommend this castle to visit....yes there are limited toilet resources available and may seem unconventional but it is a medieval castle after all. However I recommend that they facilitate this someway in the future as not everyone visiting the castle wants to go to the top they may want to have a wander in the lovely craft shop... More

This is a review of the castle / tour guides / guards - not the banquet. I was on a bus tour of the burren and the cliffs...this was one of our stops. I just had to use the bathroom. They refused to let me use it unless I paid for the full tour of the castle (which is literally... More

My husband, friend and I happened upon this lovely looking castle. We walked in to look around and was told there was a fee to tour the castle. My friend said, "Oh, I left my purse in the car." Then the tour guide looked at her and said, "You are a stupid woman." How insulting was that! In defense of... More
