Too not too small palaces on the grounds that were lovely and much less sensory overload than the main palace. It's easy to imagine Louie XIV strolling around gardens, and Marie Antoinette being opulent here.

Fantastic place, we liked every thing we saw, dont try to walk every where unless you are very fit, gardens cover 900 acres and the walk from the Chateau to the Grand Trianon is approx 2 kms, the opulence about this place has to be seen to be believed

This opens several hours after the rest of Versailles. It is a little bit of a hike to get there if you don't take the train. I wouldn't miss this part though.

When we arrived at Versaille, there was a very big cue, so we went to the gardens and the Trianons and Hamlet which was a great start of the visit.
