Picasso lived in nearby chateau and Cezanne painted it. Lovely view from simple restaurant in Vauvenargues which you can visit by local bus costing one euro!

Visited the hiking paths of Sainte Victoire just outside Aix 10 minutes. There's a beautiful lake, hiking paths and pic nic areas. Or you can jog, read a book, ride your bike, etc. very picturesque and lovely!

A perfect spring morning. Exactly what we wanted to climb to the top of Mt St Victoire. Equipped with solid boots, a pack with water, lunch and camera, we set off. This is no stroll. It is a serious, though non-technical, walk, with rough tracks and plenty of knee stretching rocks to scrabble over. Walking poles made it much easier,... More

Nice road in the mountain, pine trees, quiet atmosphere (compared to bustly Aix en Provence). Shame is that we couldnt really find a restaurant up to our expectation (not gastro but good value for money)

Not that easy to get to without a car but well worth the visit. There are large display boards with painting by Cezanne of his beloved mountain, done over time. The story is that Picasso admired his work so much and called hin the father of modern art that he himself painted the northern exposure and bought the mountain!

Walk about 3 hours and you'll arrive at the top of the most beautiful Provence's mountain. Enjoy the extraordinary scenic view on all the surrounding villages.

A must for those who want a real taste of Provence, fairly easy climb to the top of the mountain, stunning scenery on a sunny day. Don't forget your pic-nic.

The hike was not too strenuous, we got to the top to the cross in 1.5 hours, and the views were magnificent. Definitely worth doing for a bit of exercise and history too!
