This area of Chamonix has some superb skiing both on & off piste. Mainly reds and blacks so requires a good standard, but has north facing slopes so snow is good.

What a joke - famous for its offpiste skiing/snowboarding, you pay extra for using the top lift. Any lift in and around Chamonix besides Aqueil du Midi (which is not classically a skiing place either, it is just offpiste riders and visitors who come for the view of the Mont Blanc) is included in the skiing ticket but this one...

love it here at Grands Montets - great Red and Black runs along with off piste opportunity. Food good up the mountain and when there is a blue sky powder day this really is the place to be!
Terrific on/off piste skiing........long runs...... unfortunately (and the same case at nearly all the Chamonix ski areas) ghastly on-mountain restaurants....very unfortunate.....
Definitely our favorite of the official ski areas around Chamonix. Varied terrain, and we especially liked the runs down from the top of the second cable car. Fantastic views when sunny, and nice long runs!
Some of the best skiing in the Alps, if not the world, compromised by the lazy attitude of CMB (Compagnie du Mont Blanc).
Firstly just getting there is not easy. No connection from the local train station so you have to either drive or get the bus. The bus is long and painful and the large car park often results...

If you are a good skier and come to Chamonix you must go at least once on top of the Argentiere cable cars and ski from Le Grand Montet down to Lognan ,on the glacier. If you really like to enjoy the day bring a picnic and stop after Le glacier du rognon ,a wonderful hors piste on the right after...

Maybe I was a bit lucky with the weather (snow), but this was some of the best off-slope skiing (that is accessible from a cable car). Especially the face of Les Grands Montets is excellent. Worth making a reservation on the cable car.
Nice ski area - not massively challenging but good to cruise about the reds and blues. Generally out of the wind all over
Even non skiers will enjoy a day on the mountain, sun, camera a must and views like you do not see anywhere in world, as a world traveller, Chamonix is King of Skiing
