We popped in here on our way home not realising how large the grounds are and how much there is to see. Don't miss it. It is a few miles outside the city centre.
Well worth a visit if you are in Bayreuth. Free car parking too, which is a bonus. Don't bother pay to go into the museum though.
Of course, the first thing you notice at this location is the very unique building with covered with different color of stones. Gardens are very nice. Two main water fountains are great--if you time it right, you can see both fountains go off during summer days. There are also some descent flower gardens. If you just want to stroll in... More
Very interesting place to visit, the guide did the tour for us in English (although they do not normally offer this). It is interesting to see how it has evolved from a hermit place into a fancy residence over the years. The gardens are a must see, big park with water fountains, very well kept. The fountains are running on... More
we enjoyed the cocktails in sunshine and with life musik of Richard Wagners hornists. For dinner we returned after sunset and enjoyed the chef`s menue very much.
The architecture was beautiful.. The scenery was especially nice with all the snow on the ground.. We got a few really nice pictures.. Bring a camera!
I was lucky to have had lunch in the Schlossgastslatte Ermitage one rainy day in October. The gardens were still in bloom and the fragrance of the flowers and trees perfumed the air. We wandered around the park-like setting and then walked to the restaurant located on the grounds. The food was delicious and the accompanying wines were well matched.... More

Most enchanting, though, is the interior grotto with a water feature that has several interchangeable attachments which produce an array of different water fountain patterns. While... More

Ermitage was not in our tour book but it will be something we recommend to everyone living in the area. We spent hours strolling the lands stumbling across countless pleasant surprises. Even though it's a bit of a long... More
