We took the cog wheel train up and the cable car down. We went in July & it was snowing that day. This is the highest point in Germany & the views are spectacular! Not to be missed!

We went to Zugspitze from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The trip is very comfortable - it's about 1 hour by train out of which you go for 30 min in a tunnel. When you arrive it's a few minutes more to get to the top by a cable car. On the top there's a bar and a beer restaurant, as well as big... More

The view from Zugspitze was one of a kind. A must see. Dress warmly even if the temperature below is not cool.

A must see. We travelled by DB Railway from Munich to GP in the morning - easy, then Cogwheel Train from GP to the summit. A fun ride and scenery, then what a view from the top. It does cost for the transport, but it is well worth it. We had a meal and a few beers up the top,... More

Breathtaking views are not the only thing to like about Zugspitze. Beginning with the ride to get to the summit, which must be made both on the train (from Garmisch) and on the cable car from/to Eibsee. The train ride takes some time to get to the top, but travelers get to enjoy the view at ease and with a... More

Fun all the way around. From the cogwheel train - to the Cable Car to the view from the top. It was a little cloudy when we went and there was still snow so we could not walk to the summit. But the view was still great! It was 1 degree C at the peak - but we were prepared... More

What is not to like about the Zugspitze. It is awesome. Go up in the gondola and return on the train. Marvelous engineering.

My family and I went to Zugstitze twice in the last two months. First off, the mountain operates a little differently than other ski mountains that I have been to. Mainly, there are two ways to get to the top- train or cable car. The cable car is much faster and has great views. If you have a family, there... More

So we were touring Germany with two other couples. One we knew and one we'd just met. We had a burning desire to lose the couple we'd just met, but we tried to put a good face on it. Then we went up the Zugspritze. What a lovely climb up the mountain. Some of us were satisfied to stay on... More

Towards the end of our week in Germany (Friday specifically) we had an early day and decided to do some touring. We thought that a trip to the highest peak in Germany would be a great idea (and as a former rock climber I was obviously fascinated). We made our way to the Zugspitze, just missed the train, but decided... More
