If you need a break from touring the Munich area take some time out for a walk in the English Garden an find the Chinese Tower Beer Garde. This was a great spot with not just tourists but lots of locals. It is all about the food and beer. We grabbed our liters and a plate of food (pork knuckles... More

The park is spectacular! We rode bikes all over and stopped in the beer garden for lunch. The day we rode was warm and many locals were out enjoying the weather. Watch out for the nudists if that isn't your thing. The surfing on the river was great fun to watch.

We only passed through the English Garden on a bike tour, but it was extremely pretty, and we would have liked to have spent more time there. The tour did stop at the beer garden there for lunch, and that was tasty and good value.

The Central Park of Munich. It has lots of hidden treasures including a place to stop to get food and a beer. Surfers in the river, picnics, sunbathers, birds, flowers, sports, its all there

We were lucky to stroll through the English Garden on a beautiful, sunny day. Hundreds of people enjoying the atmosphere in the biggest park in Europe (the world?). We had drinks and food at the huge beer garden under the pagoda where the Bavarian brass band played. The way that so many people were catered for was very impressive and... More

We visited the garden during the late afternoon. When we go back we will bring a nice picnic and hang out for a while. Don't worry if you don't want to bother with packing food though, because there is a beer garden in the center of the park!

A beautiful garden. There is a nice waterfall and also an open field that people relax in and picnic, play games and such in. Worth walking around. Good place to get some sun or sit and read a book or just people watch.

Great water design! Beautiful and spacious! Our whole family loved the trees, canals, and mulled wine with local pastry. Surfer's wave is something unique on this planet! People are surfing in winteron a narrow part of a very fast city river!

This is a must see in Munich. Make sure you rent a boat on the lake and eat in the restaurant overlooking the lake. Idyllic and romantic.

This is worth a visit if you have the time and are not inside the city center. Lots of walking paths and bikers, even evidence of a horse. Seems very safe. Many locals exercise here.
