If you be inside, and know a bit of the history of the DDR so you can feel how the people must had feel there while standing in front of the Officier and waiting , it was a very interessting visit in Berlin.

This museum is located in the former entrance hall of Friedrichstrasse station - the security checkpoint and gateway from East to West Berlin- for the very few. Berliners tell their stories of migration and escape by video and mementos. Well worth a visit.

A fantastic little museum space...the historical site of many exchanges between east and West Berlin. This will be closing...I can't believe it! I understand they will replace it with a high rise building so I have no idea where the exhibit will go. See this bit of history (free) before it is gone.

A very good small museum that can be easily combined with visits to the many other attractions in the area. No trip to Berlin is complete without a trip to somewhere which explains the human cost of the ciy's division, and this places does that extremely well.

An excellent interesting museum. Take your passports so you can use the (free) audio guides. My kids (10 & 12) loved it too. The map location is wrong - it is in the friedrichstrasse station!

I hate museums, but this was no museum it was an experience, it helped me understand how some of the other things I'd seen in Berlin fell in to place. I never got to visit Berlin before the wall came down but this place gives you an incredible insight into waht life was like for those on either side of it and the distress caused when families were divided and the lenghts they went to in order to be together again.
