I was here in the 80's and remember seeing the wall. We went in the east. This was scary. See the wall like this was very moving.

It was great to see with my family, recent history. The museum alongside the wall was excellent as well. It's amazing the lengths a government will go to try to control it's populace. And history showed us that trying to "fence them in" doesn't work.

This is by far the best exhibition of how the barrier between East & West Berlin was constructed and looked. There is a visitor centre which is CLOSED on Mondays, the day we went, so can't comment on that. Spent a nice morning at this memorial. We hired two bicycles and went around in this place - I believe that was the best way to see Berlin. Essential in any trip to Berlin, gives a clear impression on what those days must have been like. And during this visit we realized the wall became a Wall only in 1961, not before.
