My husband and just got back from Capri and we visited this cave while we were there. It is many many steps down but you don't have to climb back up as you can follow another route back to town. We met some people doing the reverse trek and they were very exhausted trying to climb all those steps back...

Hundreds of steps until you reach the grotta which is not so interesting but if you continue on Pizzolungo you will see wonders.

Right. You're staying on Capri and the 50,000 daytrippers per day on a pebble in the Med are getting you down? Get 20mins out of Capri town and you'll get away from the crowd. A pleasant and easy path takes you from Capri and along the coast past expensive looking villas and a great view of the faraglioni. Keep going...
