Well worth the hike for the great views of Verona, the River and the surrounding area. The castle itself is all boarded up so not much to see there which is a shame.

The views of the river, city and surrounding hills are amazing from the Castel San Pietro. The Castle itself is not the attraction here!

To see the city the best, hike up the hill to the Castel and enjoy the panoramic view of Verona. It should not be missed. Take the stairs down and wander through the streets and stop for a drink at a bar and relax

To be honest, once you have made your way up the long hill - the sence of disappointment is hard to contain. The castle is certainly more impressive from the city, you cannot read the graffitti and see the broken/ boarded up windows from there.
