We booked with Eddy of Legendary Tours for an Off-Road Etna Alcantara jeep excursion. Eddy was unable to escort us and sent another guide, Alfio, to pick us up at our hotel in Taormina. We met up with fellow guide Francesco and the people in his jeep and the six of us (plus guides) had a marvelous adventure. Mt. Etna... More

This is one place in Sicily not to be missed. It is steeped in history with the impressive Greek theatre. The public gardens designed by an English lady are amazing. What a joy to visit the small Anglican church where so many famous people have worshipped. It is just a beautiful and magical place.

Taormina is built on a spectacular rocky plateau 250 metres above the surrounding countryside on the east coast of the island of Sicily. Looking up towards the city from the east coast, the city appears incongruous, with sheer cliffs rising to a crowd of stone buildings perched on the top. The most imposing ancient ruin in Taormina is a Roman... More

Taormina is a beautiful mix of sea and volcano views, ruins from the ancient Greeks, incredible shopping and eating establishments with fantastic pastries. The winding road to the hidden city is a hint of what you will find. We walked and enjoyed almost every store and shop as the variety was unexpected but very distinctive. Our hotel was literally on... More

We booked Etna - Alcantara off road tour with Eddy of Legendary Sicily and were not disappointed. After breakfast Eddy collected us in the hotel and with a convoy of 3 jeeps we left for our day trip. We booked this trip as it did not just go straight to the top and back on a bus tour but had... More

I booked this trip based on trip advisor reviews. I booked 5 months in advance...we were only in Sicily for 5 days and only 2 days in Taormina, during peak season, so I had everything planned out. The night before the trip, I recieved an e-mail (not even a phone call!) saying that they were cancelling it! Luckly there was... More

Taormina is a beautiful little township clinging to the side of Mt Tauro with an awesome Greek theater at the top of the hill. And what a spectacular view is has. Easy walk up the hill on the cobbled street to view this awesome site. Nice shops and good eateries. Always buying something to eat. Loved our day there.

We did Taormina in a day trip from our home in Calabria including a short ferry ride. The town is set high on a hill and has spectacular views of the coast and of Mount Etna. It has long been a favourite tourist destination and therefore gets crowded. It's also one of the more expensive places we have visited. We... More

Loved Taormina! Beautiful cobblestone streets with lots of wonderful cafes and little shops to browse in. So quaint and lovely I could have stayed forever. Spend the day and give yourself plenty of time to explore. Hint, wear comfortable shoes!

This is really a great way to see Etna with a knowledgeable guide. I was particularly impressed with Eddy's real depth of knowledge about the volcano and its surroundings. The trip was in a small convoy of 4x4s. We visited some villages, the Bove Valley, Alcantara Gorge, Rifugio Ragabo for (a very good) lunch, an excellent trek around the mountain... More
