As soon as breakfast was over we were set for a hike up to the to of this beautiful hilltop town, the hike was great and a stroll after dinner in the park was great, very romantic strolling along.

The Cathedral/Church was built over the remains of an ancient Roman temple. The Duomo is at the top of Cortona, a steep way to go, but worth it. You can see nice remains of original frescoes, stained glass and nice door carvings, From the little piazza you can overlook the panorama of the beautiful Tuscany

Interesting remains of original frescoes. It is very quiet and charming, with its own peaceful little piazza, which overlooks a vast panorama of the Tuscan landscape.

There are so many Duomos and Cathedrals in Europe, it has to be exceptionally great to be impressed. On this trip I was impressed with the Duomo in Orvieto.

Duomo was old as espected, giving the nice touch of medieval place of worship. Ironically sad was that opposite of duomo was a museum of "Treasures of church", while in space between on street was beggars asking money for food....

Our friend's got married in Cortona's Cathedral earlier this year. Normally when travelling I wouldn't bother going inside Cathedral's/Churches but this one was absolutely lovely inside and worth a look if you are in Cortona. It is right at the end of a street which overlooks the valleys surrounding Cortona (which is very high up!) so offers great views.
