You finally get to understand why he is so famous when you get up close, that statue is just perfect... Check out the other copies throughout the city but none beats the original. well worth the visit.

We saw David at the beginning of our Nude and Food tour with Florence for Foodies ( separate review), and he was even more majestic and perfect than I expected ( and I had high expectations indeed). Pictures alone do not do it justice. Michaelangelo imbued him with so much warmth and humanity that you truly forget he's made of... More

yes, it's quite a big queue- about an hour seems to be average, but when you get inside, it's not mobbed with people, and quite spectacular. worth it.

One cannot travel to Florence without seeing the original David. It is amazing. Try to book tickets to the Accademia in advance as otherwise the line for entry is very long. Only 4 euros additional per entry for the reservation. With a confirmation number you collect your tickets and pay in cash.

Which statue of David are we talking about? The damn things are littered all over Florence. They are all as poor as the original. The head is too big, the hands are too big, and another part is too small. The argument about its being made to view from below does not work out in practice. And the pose is... More

Seeing the statue of David was truly one of the most breathtaking experiences I had on both of my trips to Florence. It is majestic and simply amazing. You really need to be there and see it in person to know what I'm talking about. I do have one complaint, though....the museum does not let you take any pictures or... More

The museum was nice but of course the highlight of the trip was David. I highly recommend reserving in advance and avoiding the long lines. Looking at David is so incredible for so many reasons, the size, the features, the symbolism, etc. a must see in florence

A must see in Florence BUT get your tickets reserved online or you will be there for hours. Not much else to see there unless you are an art aficionado.

Easy to navigate Q (book in advance!) and museum (David at the forefront). Magisterial religious artwork as well, and well put together overall

Magical sculpture - after that everything else does not matter. You want to leave and can not take your eyes." Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why we call it the present "
