If you can climb the 463 steps to the top then don't turn this one down. The views over Florence were stupendous and the climb through the inner and outer skin of the dome was pretty interesting too!

The outside of this church is extremely impressive, the sculptures and paintings are magnificent. It is free to go inside, with a small cost to see the old relics from ancient times which are downstairs.
Yes another Italian church with amazing history. Give yourself about 30 minutes and move on. You can get the audio guide if you wish for 3 euro, but download a guide and do it yourself.
The lines during the summer are long and there's a reason why: this duomo is amazing. I actually climbed up to the top of the duomo and the view was breathtaking. Florence from the rooftop is so picturesque! If you plan accordingly, you can climb the duomo in the morning if you get there before the ticket office is open...

The duomo itself is amazing and well worth the visit. I have to say that the cathedral in Siena was more engaging for me than the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, maybe because it just has so much packed into it. It was annoying that the crypt was not covered in the Firenze pass, which we did not know...

The Duomo is very beautiful and detailed on the facade but the inside is very sparse. I would definitely recommend climbing the Campanile for the gorgeous views.
We climbed the Duomo which is 463 steps. It's really no joke to climb that. At some point, you may regret it especially at the very narrow and steep part. Feel free to stop and rest for a while before continuing. Although the path is narrow, but people will understand and will walk past you anyway. View is great, worth...

The Duomo from the exterior looks huge, but inside it is not. The exterior is multicolored marble and quite stunning.
We attended mass, such a small group. Why do people not do this? It is closed to tourist during hours when there is mass so you get to feel the true serenity of the Cathedral. I went at a very difficult time and will always remember lighting a candle for my Mom.
At first sight the Duomo was quite breathtaking. The magnificent structure in white, green and red marble towers above together with its impressive Campanile. It would have been amazing to climb up inside the dome to get a closer look at Vasari's Fresco but it's not for the feint hearted with it's 463 steps. Go early to miss the long...
