The frescoes in the upper basilica are colourful and beautiful. Bring binoculars to get a good look. Don't miss out on experiencing a religious office in the lower chapel. The chapel itself is beautiful,and St Francis' tomb in the crypt is quite special. Hearing the monks and nuns singing above is very moving. The first office is at 7AM More

It is really hard to move from looking at the countryside views but going inside is another world. For having gone thru what it has, it is in amazing shape. The effort put in to build and maintain this site is tremendous. More

We visited Assisi almost on a whim and were amazed at the Basillica. An imposing building at the bottom of the old town it's free to enter and well worth the effort.
