If you want to avoid climbing a lot- use the entrance from Viktoriastrasse, ( easy to reach by bus ) then climb down towards Nydeggbrucke ( where you can see the bears, near the bridge), cross the bridge and you arrive in the old center.

Walking under the trees, along all these beautiful flower beds, is something for the soul! Stepping up to the wall, enjoying the view of the old city and the majestic mountain peaks in the distance makes you forget the strain of walking up here from the bear park!

If you really love roses, this is the place for you. Otherwise go for the lovely park space & the view of the old town of Bern.

This is a lovely place to go to on a sunny day. The views across the river and the old town of Bern are fantastic, especially at sunset. Lovely rose bushes dot the park and there's a decent restaurant too. At the bottom of the path (direction river) is the bear pit and two more good restaurants.

This is a very steep fairly long hike on a smooth asphalt path, but we took our time and did it before the sun got too high. Impressed with parents pushing up strollers. The rose garden is a pleasant walk, the restaurant was especially nice with a beautiful view.
