This museum was worth the walk. We enjoyed the art collection and were delighted to view the fine paintings of many european masters, Corot, Reubens and Monet to name a few. The painting collection is well laid out to give the viewer a history lesson about fine art through the ages. I especially liked the paintings in the Swiss landscape... More

An eclectic collection with a handful of masterpieces, including some wonderful Monet's, a stunning Canova, the four-painting alterpiece from the early 15th century by Conrad Witz and the original stained glass windows from St. Pierre Cathedral. If you only see these pieces, that's enough to enjoy this free museum.

We had too little time to explore this museum. However we enjoye our couple of hours spent here. The art and the arms sections was good. However we were impressed with the artefacts and souveiniers on display, which were really good.

Happened upon the Musee by chance, free admission (often the case in Europe), nice building with a very interesting collection, reminded me a bit of The Met in NYC or the V&A in London, although much smaller. Highly recommended!

Geneva started its collection very late owing to Calvinist tenets, but there is lots to see in this FREE collection, especially the many Corots, the outdoor Roman sculpture garden, the ALterpiece of Conrad Witz, of great historical importance: I feel there is soéething for everyone. The restaurant is lovely and open only for lunch. OUtdoors in season is a treat

A lovely place to while away a few hours. Ancient Egypt my favourite but the weaponry/armour display was really impressive.

I especially love the collection of the early 20th century. You can learn a lot Swiss local painters' style and works.

Well worth a few hours, especially to view local painters.Coffee shop is first rate - and costs no more than chain restaurants down the street.

As of november 2011 in Geneva. Beautiful photographs by David Douglas Dunkan, military photographer, about Picasso's family - Jacqueline and kids - works and life at the villa California in Cannes. Some ceramic works, drawings and paintings. Be prepared for a very thorough security control at the entrance, compared to the one at the airports... Go to have a nice... More

While there is some worthwhile art here, much of the collection is not first-rate (certainly in comparison with the really good collections in Zurich or Basel). There is also an interesting collection of archeological material, both from Egypt, and from the Swiss area itself. If you have extra time on your hands, it is worth going.
