This small museum has put together a collection of masks created by disparate cultures around the world (mostly created for magical or shamanistic use) in a manner which displays quite extraordinary and unexpected thematic connections. A very intelligent and thought-provoking effort!

We were walking in the Old Town and it started to rain. As we were passing this Museum (and had a Swiss Saver Pass) we decided to duck in, We were delighted we did. Great exhibit of masks from all over the World, well displayed.

The Barbier-Mueller collections are notable - many pieces in the Musée du Quay d'Orsay in Paris com from them. Incredible collection of african masks and sculptures. Fabulous display. So rich, I return every time I am back in Geneva. Really worth a visit if you are interested in primitive art.
