There is loads of nice places to eat and drink where you can meet different people and taste Portuguese atmosphere.

Wine tasting and Fado clubs for night life along the narrow streets/alleys. Take the funicular tram to the top for a view of Lisbon and the castle across to the west and walk down trying some of the wine bars and end at a Fado club for dinner and music.

Lots of great bars and wine bars, good vibe, lively, lots of fun. People are friendly, feels very safe. Good restaurants. Fun to walk around.

Nice area to explore but some very steep streets. Not much in the way of shops but nice to wander around and people watch the locals.

This used to be a great place to go out at night, full of diversity and good vibes. In previous years its frequency has detriorated. I see is as almost decadent nowadays....

Very pleasent district on the one of the city's heights. Has varity of styles in constructions - from late barocco to baohaus. Has very nice observation point and many nice places for apperitive.

I visited Bairro Alto at night, thinking it would be so much fun but I soon realized that if you're not a drinking person you will not have much fun there. Sure it is an historical part of the city of Lisbon, and that is indeed interesting, but I didn't like it anyway cause I couldn't get over that fact... More
