The Fish Church is a rather small consumer fish market. The fish and other seafood offerings are clearly VERY fresh and well presented, and if you have an apartment the market would be a great place to pick up what you need to make a great dinner. But the Fish Church is not an "attraction".

Small market but nice, delicious lunch offers available. Mainly fish and prawns. Some tables in front of the market hall. Currently the area around the market hall is renewed.

It`s one of my favourite buildings in Gothenburg because it is truly "Nordic" in my eyes - a fish market looking like a Nordic church. It´s a popular subject for touristic photos and at the same time a wonderful place to buy fresh quality fish. For tourists from other countries it can be very nice just to walk through and... More

Oldest fish market in town.. It is said that there you can find the best and most fresh fish.. Yes, fish is so, but in the city almost all the fish dealers have more or less the same quality since they all buy from the harbor.. It is worth visiting. Dont think it is too big. There is a restaurant... More

This building is called "fish church" becuse its a market hall for fish and the architect was thinking of an church then designing it. There are stands of fish and seafood along the sides. It´s interesting to look at different fishes, and sometimes there are fishes you havn´t seen before. There is also a cheese shop there. At the ends... More

We walked across the river and found the famous Fiskekyrkan, a stone fish market built to resemble a church. I had to laugh at the sign posted with the rather funny English translation: Extra cost for "whine" Extra cost for "whine" Inside the "Fish Church" we found after stall of fresh fish and various concoctions thereof lining the interior of...
