We booked through Iceland Horizons and loved this tour. Our guide, Brian, took us through the circuit, explaining in great detail all sorts of things we'd never have known otherwise. I especially enjoyed Thingvellir and Gullfoss.

We had our own car. The whole trip was just great, beatiful surroundings, very good roads, very little traffic. To me Thingvellir was the greatest. The thought of being were the western modern democracy actually started more than a thousand years ago made me kind of humble.

We drove around the Golden Circle in various routes/stops and really enjoyed it. Iceland is a very easy place to drive and a safe place as well. The roads are easy to find and well marked. There are lots of stops to make, just to look at the amazing scenary if nothing else.

I rented a car from the Reykjavik airport and did the golden circle route. The scenery is incredible. The barren landscape with snow and volcanic rock everywhere is really like no where I have been to, I visited Gullfoss and the hike to the waterfalls is definitely recommended.
