I was really looking forward to visiting this place, as I've always been impressed by Klimt's art, and never got a chance to see any of his paintings for real. Well, the ones at the Belvedere are truely amazing (as I expected), but I thought the collection was a bit small… though it's good when you don't want to spend... More

Wonderful art - the Klimts in the flesh are a revelation. Heaving with visitors, suffers from poor lighting of many pictures.

The Belvedere park and the two palaces are certainly worth a visit. The park and the palaces are of course smaller than the Schonbrunn castle, but I found them much nicer. The visit to the gardens is free, but be sure to buy a ticket for the upper Belvedere and check out the famous art collection, including some of the... More

We visited the Belvedere Museum mainly to see the exhibition of Klimt's work, and were not disappointed. Their collection is spectacular, especially his most famous painting, "The Kiss", which is displayed in a very dramatic setting. There are many other works of art there which we enjoyed as well, and we spent a lovely morning at the museum.

Smaller than Schonbrunn and closer to Vienna central, Belvedere is just as impressive but on a smaller scale. The art collection on display is worth a visit by itself.

If you like Klimt, you must go. If you don't know him you will learn. If you don't, the building and grounds are spectacular and worth a visit.

After you pay the entrance fee and you are unfortunate to carry a backpack you will be required to leave the backpack at garderobe, but to do this you must pay another 0,50 euro. There is no sign before paying the entrance fee that there is another garderobe fee, it isn't a huge amount of money but it is more... More
