W are welcomed by a spectacular sight just as coming out of the airporto. We are confronted by a perfectly circular stretch of sea/fjord, surrounded by houses. It looks like something out of a cartoon! But the most breathtaking experience was seeing the northern lights for the first time: a misterious green light, which grows and pulsating changes to orange... More

We took the catamaran fast ferry from Tromso at 10.15am which arrives in Finssnes at 11.35 just in time to link up with the northbound Hurtigruten which leaves at 11.45 and gets back into Tromsø at 2.30pm. This trip back costs a little more but you do get the chance to go outside and take photographs and stretch your legs.... More

Absolutely fantastic views, nice cities and great outdoor life. We rented a car and went for a day of driving. We ended up on the island of Senja before we had to return to catch our flight. Would have loved to stay longer...

An excellent and cheap way £15 to get a two hour round trip to see the stunning sights of the fjords. The ferry leaves at 0710 in the morning getting back at 0900 - well worth the early start

We had planned two trips, one to Skjervoy in the North of Troms, and one to Lysnes, south of Tromsø, but didn't go on either of them! Instead we took a different trip, which was superb. The first trip we planned was a round trip by coach, ferry, bus and Hurtigruten (750NOK in March 2013) which left Tromsø at 4pm... More

This was a very well organised tour by car. We saw some spectacular views of the fjords, frozen lake and a glacier. We were also treated to a hot drink and cake at a charming and quaint restaurant. Simon was a great guide - very courteous, helpful and eager to ensure that we had a great experience - which we... More

There is a public ferry - in fact a very impressive, fast and modern catamaran type - that runs twice a day six days a week from a quay just along from Tourist Information down the fjord to Lysnes) and back to Tromso for less than £20 per person Lasting about two hours, the round trip calls at three small... A trip to round trip down to the next town is recommended. This'll give you the full experience. About a three hour round trip.

Took up the idea from a previous contributor. Sails on Monday - Wednesday - Friday at 0710 taking two hours or on Saturday at 0800. A simple way to see the fjords and mountains all for the sum of 169 Nok per adult. Service run by Torghatten Nord and leaves from a pontoon just along from the Hurtigruten berth.
