While staying in Bowness, my husband and I decided to go for a lake cruise. We had previously been on the Blue cruise (Islands Cruise from Bowness) and the Yellow cruise (Bowness to Lakeside) so we decided to try out the Red cruise (Bowness to Ambleside). We arrived for the first cruise of the day which meant we had the... More

Very pleasant cruise up and down Windermere, the boat we were on (Swan) is large and comfortable, the crew helpful and friendly. If you get the right ticket you can hop on and off and combine with other attractions at a discount, we went to theLakeland Car Museum.

We went to the lake to look around and for £18.00 we purchased a freeom of the lakes ticket and went on the lake! At first we thought the £18.00 each was a bit steep, but after a hour relaxing on the boat drinking the local brew, it made a nice afternoon and made it value for money. Dont worry... More

Bought the Freedom Friday Tickets £14.40 per adult bought before 11.30 on a Friday give 24 hours unlimited travel. We travelled up and down Windermere getting off and having a look round the various stops. Great knowledge from the crew and fantastic views

Took the cruise towards north, Ambleside as was advised by locals that it is more scenic, and I was not disappointed. Boat trip was good and at Ambleside do try the ice cream joints....delicious.there is a small park nearby dor tons I think was the name where it is worth spending some time , kids loved playing football there.

We took a couple of cruises while in the Lake District on Windermere - the first we boarded at Lakeside and hopped off at Ambleside. Here we went for a walk just for an hour or so and got the return boat back to Lakeside. The second cruise on our last day was from Lakeside again but this time we... More

We took the boat, MV Tern up from Lakeside to Bowness, had an hour wandering around Bowness and then got the same boat back down to Lakeside. It is a very comfortable boat with plenty of inside and outside seating. There is a refreshment centre on boat serving snacks, soft drinks, coffee and tea and alcohol. The trip was about... More

We took the walk and cruise from Brockhole. A lovely little boat to Ambleside where we had twenty minutes to have a coffee. Then to Wray Castle, it's worth the walk up the hill to see the castle. You do not have to double back just carry on round and follow lake path. It's an easy walk relatively flat and... More

A nice selection of routes depending on what you want, and what your group is made up of. We went on a Friday and got an offer day run around ticket, which took us up and down the lake, and round the islands. There were also inclusive tickets which gave you reduced rates on a steam railway, around an aquarium,... More
