Very clear, interactive displays that help you to understand what Oman was, and how it has become what it is today. Well worth an hour - especially when it's hot outside.

It's a nice, small museum. Plenty of displays, videos & interactive displays. A bit dated but good to get the history of Oman & Muscat.
A nice little museum that gives good information and aLso has a collection of Salvador Dali pieces. Located at the Corniche.
A nice enough museum on the history, natural and social, of the country, but perhaps a tad too much a disparate jumble of subjects to really make collective sense. A few of the displays were not working properly.
This lovely little museum just near the Souq is a must visit. Tracing Muscat's history through the ages, it's an illuminating experience. Even the building itself has a history, formerly having housed the British Council This is a MUST visit.
Nice little museum located within walking distance (300-400 metres from the Mutrah Souk). Although the building is old, the museum itself is fairly new. Some very informative displays on the history of Muscat and Oman. There are audio visual displays in Arabic and English only.

Tourism and facilities are varied and growing in Oman. We only stumbled upon this museum, but really enjoyed it - from the focus on geology, to maps and history. Nearly everything is in English as well as Arabic. And each exhibit uses some creative, interactive ways to present the information. Well worth a visit when in Muscat.
This museum offers visitors changing art shows featuring mainly local artists as well as a chance to see into an authentic 19th century Muscati house. The house has shows on the first floor and some displays of cultural items and historical events on the second floor. There is a coffee shop and small restaurant run by Kargeens a local restaurant....

We were just about the only people in this small but very interesting museum, which was a pity, because it is in a nicely restored old house and gives a very comprehensive picture of the history of Oman via maps and archaeological and geological information. Go.
Good, excellent, marvelous displays the glorious past of the seafaring nation of Oman and the astonishing past, A must-visit if in Muscat to see the wax statues and models of ancient Muscat.
