The museum was large and conained both history and geology of Gotland. Different exhibitions were well planned and implemented. I think also children would like it. The museum shop was good and so was the cafeteria. We spent three hours there.

Where renovated this museum is spectacular. But there are a lot of sections with dusty artifacts in poorly lit cases.
This museum was fantastic. I have been to many, many museums, but this one met all of my expectations. It went through the whole history of the island of Gotland from prehistory through the middle ages. It did it in a story-like fashion making it interesting to read all of the captions and to really appreciate the island in a...

This museum is so much better than I anticipated.. The displays here are well laid out and informative. Loved seeing the Viking outfits, weapons, skulls and piles of looted treasure that's been rediscovered and dug up over the years. The runes are interesting too. Has a well stocked gift shop and cafe.
This museum was very informative. A lot of good historic info. Especially the silver stuff was interesting.
We really enjoyed this museum. Visby has had a rich and violent past. The kids found all the sculls with all the implements of death still protruding from them interesting. Go figure! The presentation of the museums relics is very well done. It's a good size for a family, not too big where the kids may lose interest.
Went there on a recommendation from the tourist office. Really didn't have great expectations but the museum was much more fascinating than I anticipated. It was also much larger and warrants 1-2 hours of time. It was extremely well designed so as to channel you through all the exhibits and was interesting enough to engage my 9 and 11 year...

There is a wide variety of historic information that will appeal to most people. We were pleasantly surprised by the large number of rune stones that are professionally displayed in the first room. There is one section in the museum that displays graphic material about killing people who were accused of crimes, including witchcraft, but there is also a children's...

Great room of runes and viking rock pictures as well as artifacts from hoards found on the island and pieces from the midieval history of Visby. Very enjoyable place, curated in English as well as Swedish.
Excellent information about medieval visby. The silver is a wow. Good gift shop. Didn't have to see other sections.
