Thos house has a beautiful setting with gorgeous gardens; however, the building is run down and in dire need of some restorartion. Enjoy walking the grounds and enjoying the scenery, but don't bother going inside.

Hello. I am very proud to tell you that the entire estate is totally privately owned and has been in my family for the last 250 years. I am the General Manager and I manage the estate with my staff on behalf of my family. We get very little funding from the state and rely nearly completely on visitors either...

Last time here was with 2 small boys so it was a real pleasure this time to be able to stroll around on our own taking as long as we liked to enjoy the exhibits read about the history and admire the gardens. And get a cup of tea too! Views from the house are wonderful.
Thank you for review and glad you revisited after so many years. Hoping you saw lots of improvements in the last 25 years - always still more to do though!
The weather here today is incredible hope it is where you are too.
Best wishes,

We took a group of garden enthusiasts to this marvellous place, sympathetic Sophie time-travelled us through the lives of her many interesting ancestors. The Bantry House is a family run business and you can almost compare it to places where there is lots of money to be spent. They do every effort to preserve the beautiful paintings, tapestries, vases, furnitures,...

Dear Eliane
it was lovely to meet your group the other day and tour with you around the house. I am glad you managed to meet up with John too who is very knowledgeable about the garden.
Hope to see you soon again with another group,

The Bantry House is impressive both for its setting and grounds, but also for its interiors. The house overlooks the Bay of Bantry and has several terraces in front. One has round flower plantings, others have beautiful expanses of green areas. There are Italian gardens in the back and three terraces with 100 steps leading o a short series of...

much more intimate than the many National Trust houses we have been to - to be shown around by the owners was special and you got to hear history come alive as you hear the stories - wonderful garden - we loved the walk by the water
Hi again - you guys will give us a big head!
We did have a fun guided tour that day, good to get the feedback!

Because we were planning a short break in Bantry, we decided to redeem some Tesco points for vouchers towards the cost of entry to Bantry House, just for something to do really. However, we were delighted that we did because it turned out to be the highlight of our trip! The weather was mild and sunny, which was a big...

Visited Bantry House & Garden on Friday, 29 March 2013. House had just re-opened after the winter closure. On arrival staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was a particularly cold and windy day but there was a very welcoming fire in the hallway where we were able to sit and warm up. There is a lovely tea-room at the...

The gardens are truly georgeous! Beautiful sea views, and the part of the house that is open to the public (wish more of it were open) was very well restored. The stableyard so far has not been destroyed as most have been at the majority of manor houses, but neither has it been restored. We'd love to see stables built...

The Bantry House and Gardens are located on the south side of Bantry, Ireland and overlook Bantry Bay. It's quite a beautiful stately home with meticulously maintained gardens, well preserved furniture, paintings and kind staff. Bantry House, the Bantry Bay views, the house gardens and a walk about the surrounding grounds made for a delightful late morning stop in exploring...
