This is such a great trip. Very memorable. There is not much at the terminus, so would recommend that you return on the same train, unless you plan on hiking/biking down.
We took the roundtrip Flamsbana from Flam to Myrdal on a cloudy/rainy day, but even allowing for the poor weather, we did not feel it was worth the effort, and certainly NOT at the price the cruise line charged (perhaps if on could get tickets locally at last minute for less than $65 US if the weather is great, it...

After reading many reviews from previous visitors, we decided not to take this train. The fee would be around $65 per person, round trip.
It is major attraction here for this tiny town. Train station is pretty much next to cruise port. Our ship was the first one in the port and already the trains were all full most of...

I know Norway is expensive and everyone who plans to travel in this country should be prepared for the prices. But in my opinion, the Flamsbana doesn't have the bang for the buck.
We took the 9:38 train on June, 6 2013 beginning at Myrdal. To be fair, it was not a pretty day when we rode the train. That...

This is one of the most amazing trainrides in the world. Such an amazing trip with breathtaking views and amazing waterfalls. The only negative thing is the prize, quite expensive for most tourists, especially foreigners. I would recommend walking down the valley on your way back to Flåm.
Travelled on the railway as an excursion whilst on a cruise visit to Flam. Everyone was ushered to certain carriages allocated to our ship, but as normal the seats ran out, but looking back we're glad. We're glad becasue we chose to stand by the doors and so had a great view of what was coming. The views are absolutly...

We went on the Flam Railway last week (June 2013). To be honest I didn't think the views were that amazing and for the price paid it was not good value for money. The cost of the return ticket (purchased at the station in Flam) was about £43 each. It was much more expensive to do this on an organised...

We were there on May 6, 2013 via a cruise ship from 8 - 5. We got in line first thing to buy tickets for a mid day trip. There were seats still available when we checked later in the day. The last practical trip up was the least crowded. Beware that the train window seats fill up early. The...

The views are soamazing that they make the entire journey worth it, including the high price, the language confusion (by car) on the train, the low quality of the seats, the limited options at the summit, and the touristic element. It really is that jaw dropping spectacular, and we drove all over Norway before taking the train, so we could...
