One of the best unmarked trails from Highway One to the Pacific Ocean. It's where the ships used to come in (before 1937) to haul the redwood trunks up to more populated ports. Beautiful water and you walk through an old tunnel the trees were transported through.

This lesser know branch of Julia Pfieffer Sate Park is definitely worth a visit. A short but steep hike down leading thru a tunnel to a cove where goods used to be loaded and unloaded (sometimes by bootleggers!) On the hike back up we noticed a California Condor perched high on a rock. It took off soaring and then was... More

A great spot for a quick hike. The walk down takes you down a steep hill, over a bridge, and through a tunnel. Kind of a fun walk. The cove itself is pretty. The history of the cove is interesting. It's not as mind-blowingly beautiful as some other spots in the area but it's worth a visit nonetheless.

This is down a hill which means its a bit strenuous on the way back. Also not that easy to find and a tricky turn off Hwy 1. You walk through a tunnel that leads to a rocky cove but we were lucky to see otters there. Bring your camera.

Easy walk down to the bottom of the canyon (all down hill), then through the snow white and seven dwarves rock hewn tunnel and out into the breathtakingly beautiful cove where on a calm day you can see the sand through the translucent waters. Sit out on the bench (or the brave climb out on the rocks). Once you are... More

Definitely worth a quick stop! I think there are some hiking trails but we just came here for a quick look on our Big Sur journey.

Short but steep hike down to the water. You can go through a cool old tunnel to a cove where apparently ships used to dock. If you're lucky you'll see some marine life.

Do both trails...one goes over bridge the other down to the water. Perfect place for a picnic. For a cool shady spot take the third fork up the the creek and chill under a redwood. Beauty is like north shore kauai, Easy walk. perfect if you don't have a ton of time.

Short easy hike from hwy.1, nice views. Make sure you go thru the tunnel, very quiet & peaceful there, we also saw lots of jellyfish in the water.
