The War Memorial was established after WW1 to enable Australians to gain some knowledge of what our men and women went through during the conflict. The charter of the memorial was expanded to include all subsequent conflicts. As a museum it is excellent so allow a full day in the galleries. The closing ceremony is a moving event and takes... The War Memorial isn't just a memorial, it's also a massive, interesting museum compete with sound and light shows and well worth dedicating some time towards. It's also not just a place for adults, there's a kids area which is superb and is hands on for the kids. The kiddies can 'fly' a helicopter, steer a submarine, and crawl through... More

From all war memorials I've visited, and I 've seen some, this one absolutely is the most impressive. It commemorates every Australian in every war. It's hard to explain. Go and see it. Take your time...take your time. I've spend two days there and I still have to go back to visit the outdoor exibitions and displays. From the memorial... More

The greatest and most emotional insight into past wars and dedication. Very informative and would visit again in a heartbeat. Much respect for all our troops and servicemen/women.

I visited the Australian War Memorial on Anzac Day this year. It was fantastic to see everyone proudly marching in the parade, followed by a service outside the War Memorial. Inside the war memorial, there was plenty of interesting memorabilia and information. There were very dedicated guides doing tours, and it was a very powerful atmosphere.
