This place is amazing - filled with history about Cairns that the average tourist would not know- well worth a look - the staff are informative and friendly - no question was too silly, we had a great time here :)

The historical museum in Cairns is really a highlight during a visit in Cairns. The collections of various subjects are exhibited and put together with a lot of taste. The visit is very informative and interesting, in addition the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

We spent about an hour here on a rainy day. Only $5 per person for entry. Good value and some interesting things to read about and see.

This was a delightful museum, very cleverly put together. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The displays were very interesting. Early Cairn's settlement was well represented with artefacts and information from both indigenous and early settlers. Well worth visiting.

A very interestjng and informative museum with lots of old items to view. We spent a good hour reading about the war years and how the local people endured the war. Interestjng info re the aboriginals but would have liked more. A good exhibition thanks to the volunteers who turn up to open this daily.

We spent a very interesting 2 hours at the museum. Our guide Cliff is so passionate and knowledgable. We spent an hour with him and he included our 10yr old son in everything from how to throw a spear, how to fly a plane and then he took his photo holding a sharks jaw, crocodile skull and sawfish 'beaks'. This... More

Right in the heart of the city, lots of interesting information on Cairns, I love the photographic archive. Small enough not to take up to much time on a Cairns visit and cheap entry price.

All the staff was very friendly, everyone who works there seemed to live in Cairns for a long time. The two of us had an own tour guide, who... More

Not very well advertised, but definitely worth a visit. This is really cheap entry, and the guy on the desk was so friendly. He gave us heaps of advice on places to visit in the local area, suitable for our age group. It's good to see the history of Cairns, there's plenty on the WWII era, plus a good history... More
