Great sense of history of wine in Australia (history is longer than some may think). Did the grange tasting and then some. Ended up solo as others in party were under the weather. Yet others scheduled for the same time slot apparently did not show up and thus had the place and the wines all to myself.

What a great place to see minutes away from Adelaide centre. The history of Australian winemaking is there to see but, more importantly, it is still in production and many of the methods have not changed much. Great winemaker in charge so enjoy the tasting. The are some bottles for sale at The Cellar Door that you can't get elsewhere.

Of all the Adelaide Hills cellar doors we tried to visit on on Good Friday, it was only Penfolds at McGill that were open! Wonderful rustic feel being amongst the old buildings, displays etc. Lots of grassed area outside for kids to play on while we tasted a few wines. Best of all, only short drive from our home. Wines... More

$15 pp for approximate. 1 hour guided tour In a very small group of 4 people, covered the history of Penfolds starting, the making of the iconic red The Grange, tour of the old facilities, watched them making wine and visited the underground cellars where stocks are kept including their library of every Grange ever made. Got to sample about... More

We were given a Red Balloon voucher and were left wondering what to use it on... Since we had a trip to Adelaide planned we decided to use it on the Grange Tour which at $150 pp wouldn't be something we'd ordinarily do. However, having done the tour I enjoyed it so much that had it been my own money... More

Only 15 mins from Adelaide centre. Fascinating place, we did the wine tour and then had a premium wine tasting. Great wines and really informative people there. Definitely a 'must do' when in Adelaide.

We booked the super premium tour for $50 something dollars ( you can also book a $15 tour) so as to be able to try some really good wine but not being able to afford the $150 Grange tour.... the tour itself was really interesting with the history of the winery , the context for how it came about and... If you are interested in premium wines then Penfold's make some of the best. To have the opportunity for a cellar door tasting so close to the CBD is a real bonus. The tour of the historic cellars was really interesting, particularly saying where some of the fine wines are selling. We did the premium wine tasting and it was... More

We live just down the road and had some relatives out from London so on a 40C day decided not to go too far. We can't understand why this hasn't been on our must do list before. The winery is tucked between the suburbs and the hills. The drive in between the vines is glorious and the views over the... More

I took friends on the Penfolds premium tasting tour ($40 per head, $25 more than the standard tasting). The tour was fine, the wine selection was abysmal, we paid an extra $25 per person for a 15ml taste of two wines that were worth less than $80 each, everything else was identical to the standard tasting. If you must go,... More
