The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is Australia's largest, oldest and most popular sporting venue, with a history that compares favourably with any other stadium in the world. The MCG has hosted plenty of international cricket, including the first-ever Test and the 1992 World Cup final, countless VFL/AFL Grand Finals, the 1956 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games.Other sporting spectacles include FIFA World Cup soccer qualifiers, rugby league home and away matches and State of Origin and international rugby union clashes.Apart from its sporting events, the MCG has also witnessed many blockbuster music concerts, and even Pope John Paul II held a mass there when he visited Melbourne in 1986.The MCG has a total capacity of 100,018 people, comprising 95,018 seats and 5000 standing room spaces.The stadium also houses the National Sports Museum, which includes some of the most priceless pieces of memorabilia in Australian sporting history.

Australia's biggest stadium and world renowned sporting venue. If you have a chance to see a AFL Footy game here you wont regret it. A true Australian and Melbourne Institution.

Tour took 1.30 what a trip for sports fans, you have to book. The Museum and racing gallery can keep you there all day.

My wife and I visited on may 7th and took the tour with a gentleman called "Martin". Martin was a fantastic guide, not only from all the facts and figures at his fingertips, but also in breathing life into the whole stadium.

Loved the MCG tour with our very informative guide Carol. After the 75 minute tour we visited the Sports Museum, and somehow we lost ourselves in there for another 2 hours. Great experience that we highly recommend.

An aussie icon not to be missed. Can thoroughly recommend taking a tour that takes you into the heart of the MCG, the changing rooms, commentary stands etc and even down onto the ground itself. Stadium clean, well organised, good views, beer was OK but expensive, crowd well behaved. We both enjoyed the MCG museum where we spent 2 hours in the warmth looking at informative, interesting and well presented displays before the AFL game. Attendants were pleasant and helpful.

Must "do" if you are in Melbourne. Iconic Melbourne experience to see the football or especially a test cricket match. MCG is everything to Melburnians.

We'd had a tour the day before and visited the Sports Museum. The history was fascinating. Then the following night we experienced the excitement and roar of a 50000+ crowd of avid AFL fans. Not to be missed. Well worth going in if you're not a footy fan.
