As a local Melbournian, I was impressed by the running commentary aboard the tram via recorded message. The trams have free tourism brochures aboard and the commentary directs people to the better known attractions within a short distance. Whilst the trams come every 12 minutes, some did not have the pre-recorded guidance and the driver on board one failed to... More

We have used this service each and every time we go to Melbourne for a weekend (4-5 times per year). Runs in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions and about every ten minutes, and uses the old trams, most painted a burgundy colour. The tram does a loop around the city, travelling up Flinders Street, left into and then along Spring... More

Running approx every 12 minutes, the tram does a loop covering most of the attractions of Melbourne for you to hop on and hop off, and also has a commentary. Would advise avoiding peak times though as it gets extremely busy.

The tram is a must for Melbourne visitors. It takes you around a circuit informing you of tourist spots that you can hop on and off to visit and experience. These trams are the brown trams. They are free which makes is exceptional! You can stay on for as long as you like or hop on and off all day... More

I loved the convenience of taking the tram around, it's frequency of travel (10 minutes apart), and it's free! Although Melbourne CBD can be seen by foot, it's still a welcome reprieve to take a tram ride especially on a cool wet autumn day.

I love that the tram is FREE and has many stops around the CBD. Look for the big city circle tram signs.

This is a great service and its free, so during peak hours it is like a Tokyo subway - better to pay for a taxi especially if you are a group of 4 or more. When it isn't so busy though it is a great way to see the city, they go in both directions so you can hop on... More

In some global cities, you'd hop immediately on a double decker tour bus to get your bearings. In Melbourne, just find a stop for the City Circle Tram. Unlike the rest of the tram network, it is free. An interesting commentary tells you what attractions are an easy walk from each stop. Just be careful if you are using it... More

It's a great way to get a sense of Melbourne. And it's free so you can cruise around as much as you like. In certain sections it can become quite crowded, making it hard to get clear views but if you've got the time and hang in there the crowd diminishes and you can enjoy the sights. what a great...
